After moving there was cable internet but no cable modem. I already had a collection of wireless routers and modems with either ethernet or phone wire ports, but I was in desperate need of a modem. This little model is just the ticket. It turns the cable signal from the black round coaxial wire in the wall into an Ethernet cable. This cable can be plugged directly into a computer or into a wireless router that will broadcast the signal throughout the home. my laptop and was redirected to the Comcast website where I was asked for the credentials I had previously collected. After I signed in with my account information, a small progress bar appeared where Comcast "identified" my new router. After 15 minutes everything was ready and I used the internet and downloaded the Revain video just like before. Does it have the speed of a nicer model? I haven't tested it, but I can't complain. Some apps download at around 1.5 Mbps. Usually 5-6 devices work with the router that powers this modem. I can't imagine shelling out an extra $50 for the "latest" model.
