Review on High-Quality Teac TN-300SE-MB Analog Turntable In Matte Black by Durward Carlson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great unit, lot's of fun.

I'm not a turntable expert, but I'm really digging this. I set up the weight in accordance with the instructions and I haven't had a skip yet. It's doing a great job on some old records I've bought. The only thing I'd say is that the sound isn't coming through my AVR with a whole lot of "punch" or clarity. I'm not sure if this is the cartridge, the fact I'm using the line-out instead of a phono amp, or just that I haven't done enough to EQ it. No mater, I've got streaming services for when I want maximum fidelity.Anyway, it's a lot of fun to use. The lifter is really nice for soft drop-ins. It's kind of a purist system, so no automatic features. That's kind of a bummer, because auto-stop at least would be nice.

Pros
  • The remote does not have a power switch/button. Major mistake.
Cons
  • Limited sound adjustment options
