Great but cables need cleaning before use

Great but cables need cleaning before use. The cables were brand new, still sealed in their bag from the factory, but when I took them out of the bag they had greasy stains on them. My guess is that the cables are placed in some sort of mold and then epoxy is poured around the metal cables to create a plastic coating and the greasy residue is a "release agent" that is applied to the mold to help the cables release can detach from the mold. I'm not sure why those brand new cables had this greasy residue, but I can't think of another brand new item that I had to clean before I could use it. Nobody would put this cord in their briefcase/backpack or take it anywhere if it would stain shirts or other items in the bag. The good news is that cleaning the cables wasn't too difficult. I just used some paper towels to wipe down as much as possible first and then wiped them down with a paper towel with some rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol) on them and that got rid of any residue. So far the cables are working as expected. I attached the tab to the side of the computer and then attached the Kensington lock to it. The only surprise was that the video showed someone just picking the lock without using the key, it was too much pressure for me so I just put the key in the lock, turned it and then I could the lock easily slide the bar open (and then turn the key the other way to lock it). The other tab and lock are attached to the external hard drive. Another nice feature of the lock around the bar is that it can be rotated. On my computer the cable blocks the DVD drive when the lock is flat (parallel to the table) but I can just grab the lock and turn it and then the cable no longer blocks the DVD drive. So it does what I wanted, it serves as a deterrent to unprepared and undecided thieves. Also, it looks good and the black cable goes well with black USB cables and the chrome lock looks nice too (better than the tip of the cable going into the lock which they didn't chrome). If I didn't have to waste time and materials on cleaning I would probably give 5 stars. Some people might think that grease shouldn't matter, but for me it does. I haven't bought anything new that I would need to clean before I could use it. PS If you are interested in products that will stop a more determined thief but are not as aesthetic (invisible) as cables, here are some links. to these articles.
